Why does the laser remove dirt but not metal?<\/h2>\n

Every material needs a different amount of energy to vaporise: its ablation threshold<\/strong>. Rust, paint and grease have a low threshold; metal has a higher one, and it also reflects much of the light.<\/p>\n

If the machine works between those two thresholds, the laser removes the layer of dirt and stops acting once it reaches clean metal. There is also no contact: no abrasive to scratch and no chemicals to attack the surface.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
