Laser cleaning applied to the restoration
Summary:
From June 25 to 28, our technical team, together with our Cleaning Manager Jordi Roca, gave the training course: "USE OF LASER TECHNOLOGY APPLIED TO THE RESTORATION OF CULTURAL PROPERTY". Attendees had the opportunity to carry out piece restorations using the LC-Clean P cleaning machine. This hands-on experience allowed them to become familiar with the most recent innovations in cultural heritage preservation. We are proud to continue sharing our knowledge and contributing to the care of our valuable heritage!

What is Laser Cleaning?
Laser cleaning is a process that uses pulses of laser light to vaporize and remove unwanted material from a surface. Laser energy is selectively absorbed by contaminant or corrosion layers, causing their decomposition and removal without damaging the underlying substrate. This technique is especially useful in the restoration of objects of historical and artistic value due to its precision and control.
Applications in the Restoration of Cultural Assets
Sculptures and Statues: Laser cleaning is used to remove dust deposits, soot and corrosion products from sculptures made of marble, bronze and other materials.
Mural Paintings: This technique allows you to clean historical mural paintings, removing layers of oxidized varnish and contaminants without affecting the original pigments.
Documents and Textiles: Low energy lasers are effective at removing stains and mildew from old documents and delicate textiles.
Metals: Laser cleaning is ideal for restoring metal objects, such as antique weapons and decorative elements, removing oxidation and returning their original shine.
Benefits of Laser Cleaning
Precision and Control: Allows precise removal of contaminants without damaging the underlying material.
No Contact: Laser technology does not require physical contact, which minimizes the risk of mechanical damage.
Sustainability: It is an environmentally friendly technique, since it does not use aggressive chemicals.
Versatility: It can be applied to a wide variety of materials and objects.
Conclusion
Laser cleaning has become an indispensable tool in the restoration of cultural assets, offering an effective and safe solution for the preservation of our historical and artistic heritage.
