Key Findings from the Laser Cleaning Trials

Wood

The main entrance door and the exterior wooden gates exhibited very similar behavior during the trials. Laser cleaning successfully removed the deteriorated surface layer; however, the tests also revealed the presence of older varnish and stain layers beneath the visible finish. This is an important factor to consider when planning any future restoration work.

The historic interior wooden gate responded differently. In this case, the laser had minimal effect on the existing finish, highlighting the importance of tailoring the cleaning parameters to the specific characteristics of each surface.

Stone
